about

Ereis Overture is one of the most complex works I have attempted to date, both technically and musically. It was commissioned by Peter Campi for an as-yet unreleased computer game - more I cannot say about the subject. However, there are more than enough hints in the music, the cover art, and the title itself to give you some inkling of what the game will be about.

The track was written using the excellent brass and woodwind libraries from Aaron Venture (Infinite Brass/Infinite Woodwinds). For maximum realism, I "performed" them using a TEControl USB MIDI Breath Controller, to get the attacks, sustains, releases, and all of the other aspects of each note just right.

Strings and some percussion were supplied via the mighty Roland SC-88Pro, while most of the military/marching percussion came from the System Blue "Virtual Ensemble Trilogy" KONTAKT library.

While this track was less than half as long as the first movement of "Lady Tygress' Suite," it almost took longer to write it! Quite a complex track, it was. I thank Peter Campi for pushing me to the edge of my envelope!
